It is perhaps safe to say that Indian cine-goers have finally awoken to the genius of the man that is Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The past half a decade alone has proven that the multiple award-winning performer can transform into whatever character he wishes to get into the skin of. If you are someone who has been thinking about exploring some of his iconic pieces of work, this article is for you. This piece will talk about several recent and upcoming feature presentations that the actor has either been a part of or will be seen in next, all of which can be streamed on ZEE5 Global. Read on to learn more about them.
Haddi (2023)
The first movie on the list of Nawazuddin Siddiqui films that you should keep an eye out for is Haddi. This neo-noir-esque feature presentation will see Siddiqui in a never-before-seen avatar of a transgender crime overlord who is determined to exact revenge on those individuals who have brought him great trauma in the past. Fun fact: The movie also sees Siddiqui’s longtime collaborator, Anurag Kashyap, play a pivotal role in the revenge drama. The movie will be available for streaming on ZEE5 Global on September 7, 2023.
Mom (2017)
Much like in the case of Haddi, Mom also sees Nawazuddin Siddiqui establish himself as a formidable character actor as he is seen in a very unconventional get-up in the feature presentation. The movie is fronted by the late and great Sridevi, who plays a disgruntled mother determined to exact revenge on the men who assaulted her daughter but were acquitted by the legal authorities. She embarks on this journey alongside a private investigator, Daya Shankar Kapoor (Siddiqui), who helps her dig through the rabbit hole as far as they can.
Genius (2018)
Third on the list of Nawazuddin Siddiqui films that you should consider adding to your ‘Must Watch’ list is Genius, a thriller that centers around a prodigal RAW agent (Utkarsh Sharma), who is on a mission to save his country from a catastrophe of epic proportions. Here, Siddiqui can be seen playing the role of the antagonist, who goes by the name of Samar Khan, an ISI mastermind with nefarious intentions. One can perhaps safely say that Siddiqui’s character in the film is giving out some serious Jim Moriarty energy throughout the course of the film.
Ghoomketu (2020)
It could perhaps be safely said that this film is one of Siddiqui’s more experimental projects. This movie sees Siddiqui play the part of an aspiring film screenwriter who has come to the city of Mumbai with the single-minded focus of leaving an indelible mark on the Hindi film industry. His pursuit of success in the entertainment world as well as finding an internal sense of validation give way to a lot of dramatic as well as humorous moments in the movie. Although experimental, it still serves as quite a popcorn entertainer, as the movie is laced with tongue-in-cheek humor and a series of delightful cameos by a multitude of Bollywood A-listers.
BabumoshaiBandookbaaz (2017)
This trigger-happy dark dramedy sees Siddiqui play the part of a well-respected contract killer, Babu Bihari, who is, in fact, quite a legend in his neighborhood. This film follows Siddiqui’s contract killer character as he attempts to carry out a job for a corrupt politician, but things start to go awry when his heart gets in the way. Somewhere in the process, Babu Bihari ends up meeting his protege of sorts as well, who considers Bihari to be an idol-like figure. This film, with all its virtues taken into consideration, is meant for those viewers who would like to see a little bit of gun-slinging during their downtime.
