If you are lucky enough to live in a climate with four seasons, here are some things you should consider doing this winter:
December:
Decorate your house
Begin the winter season by decorating your home. If you think it’s too early to set up the Christmas tree or light up the gigantic snowman installation, at the very least take some little steps, such as adding a few red and white decorative pillows to the sofa or starting to drink hot cocoa from your Santa Claus cup.
Buy presents
Don’t leave it until the last minute to buy gifts, otherwise you’ll end yourself with empty shelves and extremely lengthy queues. Make a list of what you want to buy and shop ahead of time.
Purchase a quality sweater
Don’t forget to treat yourself to a nice sweater as well. If the clothes you normally see in mass market stores don’t appeal to you, go to Tara Irish Clothing for unique Irish sweaters, which are very popular this winter season.
Bake gingerbread cookies
Baking gingerbread cookies, a traditional Christmas delicacy, can be enjoyed alone or turned into a family activity. They’ll look beautiful on your holiday table if you decorate them with colored icing.
Celebrate Christmas
Even if it is self-evident, you must include Christmas celebrations in your winter to-do list. Try something new this year: go on a holiday with your partner or family, make a different meal, learn more about other countries’ holiday traditions, and give them a try.
January:
Build a snowman
Because of all the food we’ve eaten and the overall comfortable environment, the first days of January are always the laziest. This is the greatest time to get outside and do something energetic, like making a snowman. You might even have a contest in your neighborhood and have a great time.
Have a snowball fight
Have a snowball battle if you’re feeling more energetic. Remember how you used to do this every winter when you were a kid, and relive those memories with your friends and family.
Spend a day without internet
Winter vacation is the greatest time to disconnect from the internet, whether in a cabin in the woods, at a ski resort, or at home. Taking a day off from all of your responsibilities and listening to yourself and your thoughts may be quite soothing.
Go on a sleigh ride
This one isn’t for everyone, especially those of us who live in the city, but taking a sleigh ride on a chilly January day would be a fantastic way to spend your time. Another pastime that will take you back to your childhood!
Do a good deed
Remember to look after others and give back to the community. Feed a homeless person, donate money to a retirement institution, or set up a box with various items for an orphaned child. A modest gesture that does not require a lot of your time or money can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
February:
Ask someone to be your Valentine
In February, don’t forget to ask your crush or loved one to be your Valentine, and yes, even if you’ve been together for ages!
Bake sugar cookies for your Valentine
If gingerbread cookies are meant for December, sugar cookies are indispensable in February. Bake some, decorate them, and give them to your Valentine, they will surely appreciate the thought and effort.
Prepare your wardrobe for the spring
On the last days of February, make an inventory of your wardrobe and prepare it for the spring. Think about all the things you plan on wearing as well as the ones that you would like to gift, sell, donate, or recycle.
Re-read your favorite book
There’s no better time to reread your favorite book than the winter, especially when it’s still a little cold outdoors and you can curl up on the couch with your blanket. Take your time and enjoy the book, whether it’s a traditional English love story or a modern sci-fi novel.
Start a journal
Last but not least, the beginning of spring is a period when nature awakens and inspires you to pursue new objectives and ideas. Try writing goals down in a notebook and making a solid strategy for how you will attain them.
